Former NFL Defensiveman to Play In Richmond

Former NFL defensive end Greg Hardy signed to play football for the Richmond Roughriders in the American Arena League.

Hardy is 29 years old and joins the Roughriders as the team prepares for its second season. He played six years in the NFL, first for the Carolina Panthers, then for the Dallas Cowboys. His NFL career ended due to domestic violence charges and the subsequent suspension. He will continue a career in mixed martial arts while playing for the Roughriders.

Other players have used indoor and arena football as a path back to the NFL. Terrell Owens played in the Indoor Football League in 2012, and Kurt Warner played three seasons in the Arena Football League before joining the St. Louis Rams and winning a Super Bowl.

The Roughriders play their first game on March 17th against the High County Grizzlies.
