Monterrey Flash Return To MASL
Monterrey Flash Return to MASL
Returns After Two-Year Absence
The Monterrey Flash will return to the Major Arena Soccer League for the 2017-18 season.
The announcement comes two years after the team left the league. Despite having won the 2014-15 MASL title, the team’s president withdrew the club, citing administrative issues and disagreements with the league. Now he says the conditions are right to re-enter.
The Flash will be the league’s 19th team with the season set to start in the fall. League meetings on June 14-16 will determine divisional alignment and schedule.
Barracudas Introduced in Hidalgo
The Barracudas will return to the MASL in 2017-18 after sitting out in 2016-17 and relocating from Brownsville, TX, to Hidalgo, TX. The team will be called the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas.
The team, whose relocation was announced in April, was introduced at a press conference in Hidalgo and will play at State Farm Arena. A new logo was also unveiled.
The relocation marks the league’s return to the city after Hidalgo La Fiera folded midway through the 2014-15 season.
