USA Wins Women’s Futsal World Cup

Two Second-Half Goals Seal Title

The United States Women’s Futsal Team defeated Australia to win the inaugural IFA Women’s Futsal World Cup.

The two teams held a 0-0 draw going into halftime before the U.S. jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second half. Australia found the equalizer but fell behind again when the U.S. scored a second goal. The Australians nearly found a last-second equalizer, but the shot was tipped over the bar by the U.S. goalkeeper.

The United States is the first-ever women’s futsal world champion, finishing the tournament with four wins and one draw, including an 18-0 win over host Spain in the group stage finale. The tournament was organized by the International Futsal Alliance with eight teams.
