Seals to Play on Marine Base
Game To Be Held on the Runway
The San Diego Seals will hold a game on the runway of an active Marine base in the San Diego area.
The February 22nd game against the Vancouver Warriors, dubbed the “Rumble on the Runway”, will be played at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. It will be the first professional sports event held on an active Marine base in the U.S. The temporary outdoor arena will be built to accommodate season ticket holders as well as active, reserve, and retired military members.
Located 10 miles north of downtown San Diego, more than 12,000 marines, sailors, and civilians live at Miramar, which opened in 1917 as the U.S. Army’s Camp Kerney and has operated continuously since 1929.
